Terms and content rules
Last updated 13 October 2026
RepoChat is a chat for the collaborators of a GitHub repository, used from inside VS Code. It is run by Dashovia Innovations ("we"). By using RepoChat you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. Using RepoChat
- You need a GitHub account, and you can join a repository's chat only while GitHub says you have push access to that repository.
- You are responsible for what you do with your account and for what you share.
- Only share code, files and information you have the right to share. If the repository belongs to your employer or a client, their rules about where code may go still apply to you.
2. Content rules
RepoChat is a workplace tool. Do not post, share or link to:
- Nudity or sexual content of any kind.
- Any sexual content involving minors. We remove it, suspend the account permanently and report it to the relevant authorities.
- Harassment, threats or hate: abuse aimed at a person or group, including for their race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or origin.
- Spam: advertising, repeated junk messages, or flooding a chat.
- Malware or files meant to harm someone's computer or accounts.
- Other people's private information, such as passwords, access keys, home addresses or identity documents, shared without their consent.
- Anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark.
You also may not try to get around plan limits, access a chat you aren't entitled to, or disrupt the service for others.
3. How the rules are enforced
- Anyone in a chat can report a message. A report sends that message, and any files attached to it, to the repository's admins and to us for review.
- A repository's admins and maintainers can delete any message in their repository's chat.
- We can remove content that breaks these rules and suspend the account that posted it. A suspension applies to every chat on RepoChat.
- We don't scan your messages or files automatically. We look at content only when it has been reported, or when the law requires it.
If you think we got a decision wrong, write to contact@dashovia.app and a person will look at it again.
4. Your content
What you share stays yours. You give us permission to store it and to show it to the other collaborators of that repository, which is what the service does. We don't use your content for anything else, and we don't sell it. The privacy policy says what we store and for how long.
5. Plans and payment
- The Free plan covers public repositories, and two people on a private repository, with the limits shown on our pricing.
- Team and Org plans are subscriptions billed per seat, monthly or yearly, until cancelled. A seat is used by anyone who has connected to the chat in the last 30 days.
- Payments are handled by Polar, our payment provider, who sends your receipt and a link to manage or cancel the subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid for.
- If you cancel or stop paying, the repository returns to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted, though older history is hidden as the Free plan describes.
- If something went wrong with a charge, write to us and we will put it right.
6. Availability and liability
We work to keep RepoChat running and your content safe, but the service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Keep your own copies of anything important: RepoChat is a place to talk about your work, not the place to store it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
7. Changes and ending
You can stop using RepoChat at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may change these terms; when a change matters, we will say so on this page and update the date above. We may stop providing the service to an account that breaks these terms.
